November Chill

After a bit of planning we had a lovely Thanksgiving with friends and family. We actually succeeded in not having too much food (as we usually do) and got 'to go' containers for everyone to bring a large portion of all the food home. Just about everyone got stuck in traffic on the way over so we just went along with the ebb-and-flow of the day. I found it nice because I used to hold out on eating too much and then eat way too much of dinner but recently decided that leftovers are just as good as the day of so I just have a normal eating day save for the over-all decadence of the food.

Cousin Craig came over for a few days over the holiday, which is always fun because we all laugh so much. We cooked some good food, went out for some killer fish n' chips and went out hiking and looking for potential camping spots out down a rural road that Robin's dad recommended to us. The weather was crisp and cool- just pirfect for some wondering.

Since we don't have a dog, Craig's dog Pie Pan has been just thrilling for Issa to be around and the poor thing gets mobbed each time she comes to our home. She's been really good to Issa though and puts her in her place gently if Issa is too in her face.

Efrain chat just about every day over the phone and I hear about his adventures over there in Mexico. Recently he went to an all-night swapmeet with a friend of his to help set up his friends vending tent and items to purchase. He said the market was so big that he could try to walk from one end of the market to the other and never find the end. They were selling everything from animals to clothing to food and now that he's been out of the country for so long, the experience was exotic rather than an every-day thing. Although he enjoys being with his family, he seems really ready to come home. Sometimes one more month seems like it will be really quick for both of us, but at other times it seems like forever. I'm sure it will feel like I've blinked and he'll be home;-)
