This month has gone by so fast and the kids are getting so big! I swear, I always shrugged my shoulders when adults told me that life will go by in the blink of an eye, but here I am, and it really does. Someone once told me that nothing marks the passing of time like watching your children grow and I have to whole-heartedly agree. Issa is up to my shoulder and Aramis is fast on her heels so here's to a mom who will be lecturing up at her kids in a few years time.
As an update on our lives, Aramis is now a five-year-old. The little puppy's got big paws and a gentile heart so who knows what kind of a guy he will be. My prediction is that he'll be a heart breaker but for now he's just a great cuddler. He's got the clinical mind of my mother's side of the family and it is mind boggling when he walks up to me having made a cube with his Lego's, or is drawing cylinders with appropriate depth already. He also likes hard rock music like the band Kiss, and his father is very pleased with that;-)
Issa will be 7 in March. She's very creative and occasionally throws fits yelling "I'm an artist mom!" when I'm nagging at her to study spelling...she still is a better speller than I ever was, and is reading pretty well on her own. She's starting to read in Spanish too which will help when we are trying to stay in contact with her grandmother. Still, we feel a pang of guilt when we see how fast she's growing and we haven't had her in dance or gymnastics like we had planned for her. She's very athletic and needs that outlet so we are puzzling over what to do at the moment as any facility for those things is over 30 minutes away.
Efrain and I are great. We are handling West Texas in stride with all its extreme weather (it's on the fringes of Tornado Alley), and all it's religion. The people remain as charming as ever and the only thing we miss terribly is a bit of culture and adventure. We feel like this is all on its way but in the meantime, we are getting as creative as we can with food, friends and of course, good doses of the food and travel channels- ha!
My newest addiction is what Efrain likes to call my "garden porn." I have plans for my little area and hope to give it a cottage feel instead of a ghetto feel. I'll be honest, I'm kinda in the ghetto but luckily its mostly messy and not as much dangerous anymore. So I'm creating my master plan via Pintrist and a show on Youtube called "Gardeners World," out of Britain (love the show).
Anyhow, just when I think that this little town is done sending curve balls my way, I end up in a sauna with a cage fighter and a retired rough neck, or trying to speak to my neighbor's friend who's made a lovely dinner for us but only speaks French...I've met people who hate this boom town and say there's nothing to it but it still is in a way to me, The Wild Wild West- who knows what's next?
At one of our favorite restaurants in Odessa named Ojua's.

Ice storm that hit our area recently and broke at least one limb off of each tree in town.
